I picked up a golf
club and hit my first ball at the young age of 8 in my grandfathers
back yard.
We would hit balls to a make-shift green, cut in a large field
and I knew right then that this was a cool sport!
Because my father was in the
military, we have been stationed all over the United States and
overseas. When we moved from Virginia to San Diego, I
really wanted to play golf at the next level so my parents supported me spending more time at the driving range. As I spent more time
at the range, my father saw my talents develop and began lessons for me to improve my playing skills.
Our next duty station was
Hawaii and that is where my golf game really took off. My father signed me up for
golf
lessons with a PGA professional named
Chuck Larson.
Following the two years of instruction, I started playing
competitive golf
on the Oahu Junior Golf Tour and Hawaii Junior Tour. Enjoying those tours, I had many
opportunities to participate in tournaments and place well in
many events.
As my father was preparing to
retire from the Navy, we made our final move to Panama City,
Florida. It gave me the opportunity to play competitive
golf on tours such as the
Southeastern Junior Golf
Tour and the
Florida Junior Tour.
As I start my Senior year at
Mosley
High School, I am excited to be a
member of the golf team
and support my school in bringing home the wins. I plan to continue to
apply the same dedication to the sport that I have played since age 8, as well as continuing my focus on high school studies, the golf team and
volunteer work. Additionally, I look forward to supporting my golf team
and the tours around the southeast to ensure I give myself the best possible
chance to receive a golf scholarship to play collegiate golf and earn my college
degree.
